Job Summary

The Music Man is a unique family-style ice cream parlour where the server/performers (guys and gals) sing, dance, and improv with the audience. The Music Man operates a high-volume restaurant and entertainment venue on the Jersey Shore from May to September, and for special events in October and December. 

Kitchen Runner will guide most aspects of the food service – working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the correct quantity, quality, and accuracy of each request. The Kitchen Runner communicates company decisions to the staff and ensures application, always striving to serve as an example. Responsibilities include tracking inventory (edible & non-edible), prepping and restocking stations (takeout, topper, dining, scooping, coffee), and assisting with order fulfillment in a clean, comfortable environment. 

This position pays ABOVE the NJ Minimum Hourly Wage on our Tiered Pay Scale of $17.00-$18.00 per hr. Plus, an eligible BONUS package for employees working through Sept 12, 2026. A thorough understanding of position and compensation is provided during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications & Availability

• Experience working in a restaurant, Food Services, or Customer Service.
• Ability and experience to lead, train, and direct staff to engage in responsibilities throughout the work shift to execute tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends, June 19 through Sept 12, 2026, on a weekly schedule of (6) SIX DAYS per week, 7-hour shifts, for the entire Summer Season. 
• NO REQUESTS FOR OFF ON HOLIDAY WEEKENDS
• This position requires a friendly, outgoing personality, a sense of urgency, a willingness to engage with customers (in-person & over the phone), and the ability to take direction from co-workers with ease.
• This is a hands-on & physically demanding position. You must be able to lift and carry a bussing bin weighing up to 10 lbs and perform our “Hands-On Tasks.”

HANDS-ON TASKS

• Perform all duties to provide excellent customer service efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen in accordance with established sanitation standards.
• Provide ongoing feedback to all staff on all aspects of kitchen operations.
• Ensure the kitchen and dining room are ready to open and operate 15 minutes before opening for indoor seating and shows.
• Prep serving stations by maintaining adequate inventory (filled cut fruit, syrup bottles, warmed fudges, toppings, baked goods, cones, cups, lids, placemats, etc.) so it’s always at your fingertips to minimize delays and reduce customer wait times. 
• Implement an opening/closing checklist and communicate with kitchen and dining room staff. 
• Cleaning throughout the night: (During showtime and after the last sundae is delivered) restock, remove garbage to outside receptacles and replace bags, wipe counters (kitchen, topper, waiter), equipment, and takeout tables, return clean dishes to correct location
• Follow company safety standards to minimize risk to yourself and others.
• Must be able to stand for long periods, at least 5 hours.
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 15 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods.
• Must attend related in-service training and staff meetings.
