Job Summary

The Music Man is a unique family-style ice cream Shoppe where the server/performers (guys and gals) sing, dance, and improv with the audience. The Music Man operates a high-volume restaurant and entertainment venue on the Jersey Shore from May to September, and for special events in October and December. Main Performers are responsible for working in a fast-paced environment, serving our Indoor Dining and Takeout Window by taking orders, preparing food, bussing tables, handling cash, seating customers and maintaining a clean work area.

This position pays NJ Tipped Wage per/hour with a tip split. A second pay rate is included for Non-Tipped work, at the NJ Minimum Wage per hour for seasonal employees. A thorough understanding of position, compensation, and housing is presented during the interview process. 

Basic Qualifications & Availability 

• • Men and Women, ages 20 and up, with a minimum of two (2) years of College. (Ages 19 & under, please submit for Non Performer/Server/Crew (www.themusicman.com/jobs-crew/). 
  • Must be available to work a full-time schedule, May 11 through to Sept 12, 2026, on a rotating schedule that includes one (1) Day OFF each week, working a MINIMUM of (6) six days per week, 7-hour shifts for the entire Summer Season.
  • Experience working in a Restaurant or Food Services.
  • Must have a flexible personality by being willing to help wherever needed, putting aside personal preferences. 
  • Must be characterized as welcoming and energetic with a powerful singing voice who can make anyone smile! 
  • This position requires a warm, outgoing personality, a sense of urgency, and a willingness to engage with customers (in person & over the phone) and to take directions with ease from co-workers. 
  • This is a hands-on & physically demanding position. You must be able to lift and carry a bus bin/case up to 15 lbs and perform our “Hands-On Tasks.”
  • Rehearsals run daily, from May 11 through June 30, then weekly from July 1 through August 30, 2026.

7. Follow food and workplace safety practices to minimize risk to self and others. 
8. Must be able to stand for long periods, approximately 8 hours. 
9. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 15 pounds. 
10. Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods. 
11. Must attend related in-service training and staff meetings.

Expectations of HANDS-ON TASKS

• Prep dining room: move tables and chairs, wipe down all furniture, vacuum, sweep, mop. 
• Prep for set-up: stack placemats/napkins, sort & roll utensils, fill water pitchers and popcorn baskets. 
• Set Tables 
• Prep for kitchen tasks: restock and maintain adequate inventory levels; fill cut fruit, syrup bottles, warmed fudges, toppings, baked goods, cones, cups, lids, and placemats. 
• Take orders – listen, capture accurate customer order details with restaurant computer systems, back up handwritten orders, and process guest payment. 
• Prepare Food: scooping ice cream, topping sundaes, baking, and barista. 
• Serve Food to tables/takeout in the correct dish with the correct accompaniments. 
• Bus & Clean Tables: clear tables by filling bus pans with dirty dishes, removing dirty papers, and wiping clean all tabletops. 
• Load/unload Dishwasher of dishware, glassware, baskets, utensils, kitchen tools, and parts. Return washed items to their proper location—Hand-wash large items. 
• General Cleaning: wipe clean counters and empty trash bins in between turnovers. A thorough end-of-night cleaning includes wiping down all kitchen counters, tables, and appliances; removing floor mats; spraying them clean; sweeping and mopping all floors; returning the floor mats; vacuuming carpets; and setting up for the next business day. Roll trash bins to the curb for pickup every day.
